Hello and welcome to my site. I am Kat Asher, a Holistic therapist in eternal training and health and beauty enthusiast that’s love of all things natural, beautiful and good for us has allowed me to combine all my favourite things into one awesome project that forever challenges me. I work as a freelance researcher and social networker, therapist and PR advertiser and blogger for anything new and exciting in the world of holistic/alternative therapies, health and beauty, food science and overall lifetyle management and awareness. My website is designed to insight and inspire anyone that is looking for new ways to promote nature and wellness into their lives, of course with very up to date modernized techniques and good humour! Here you can find info on anything current and in depth from skin care, nutrition and recipes, reflexology, herbs, yoga and pilates, vitamins and supplements, essential oils, NLP, Interior design, acupuncture, homeopathy..you name it, it will be found on here, and if it isn’t and you would like me to research something on your behalf, ask away and I would be more than happy to do so!
Always on the look out for new products and information to review and I regularly participate / host events, beauty playgrounds and seminars for promotions so if you would like us to include yours, please get in touch! I also love to hear from anyone else in the industry that would like to network with us and join in with events to promote services at open days and work shops where all new products, techniques, names and faces can be shared and enjoyed by anyone with an interest in lifestyle and all the beauty and benefits that comes with it.and as we know or more to the point, should know, there are MANY!
So, I have split some of my main interests into categories and sub-categories of all topics can be found on the home page with all of the posts I intend to share! Hope you enjoy it and that for whatever you are looking for, you may find an answer here!Kat Asher x
- SKIN CARE AND DERMATOLOGY:
One of the more time consuming and more studious projects that keeps me on my toes… As a holistic therapist I am forever researching and keeping updated on what products are good for us and which ones we should watch out for. I have spent years of my life, convinced that expensive products will obviously be good for my skin because of the name brand and high end reputations they hold, though having analysed the ingredients that go into manufacturing these mass- produced skin care ranges, I am officially terrified of polluting my skin any more than needs be. In this day and age, we are surrounded by a constant wave of thick pollution and chemical aggrivation that generally speaking is clearly unavoidable should current mindlessness persist, however we chose to hide away from it, though I have been adamant to try live by a more natural, sincere method of ‘nature says’ and stick to the simplistic yet luxurious techniques, that after a year of application, has done me the world of good!
Having been taught the basics of base ingredients, blends and oils that constitute a recipe for a soap, lotion or tonic, combining all of these variants with different and distinctive plant extracts, oils and vitamin blends concentrated to such a degree it constitutes as holistically approved, I am forever undergoing batches of my own soaps and skin treats that come along with me to any demo to hand out as thankyou treats to guests. Who knows, if and when I find more time, this favoured hobby of mine might become more full time..you decide! Among the skin care section you will find posts pertaining to the most prestigious up and coming skin experts dealing with certified organic, natural products, such as Dr. Hauschka, Neom, Neals yard and many many more..if you would like a feature on my site for your products (and you don’t have to be a massive name, it could just be a skilled hobby wrothy of a little recognition) I would be happy to include you!
This site will also include recipes on how you can make your own!
- FOOD AND NUTRITON:
One of the reasons I decided to embark on Holistic therapy, was to learn about Nutrition and its benefits. Since giving birth to my daughter in September 2009, I have become far more cautious and calculated about what we as a family eat. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a preachy person thats totally opposed to eating pizza and burgers but as a family thats always tried to take care of ourselves, when we do have a week of bad eating or no excercise, it becomes more and more noticable. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I gained nearly 4 stone (25kg’s) and I’ve always been a relatively small framed person so my philosophy of, ‘what I eat now I’ll lose later,’ took me until mid 2011 to really battle. How? I became facinated in organic raw veg, less red meat and more fish, body detox and the glory of those simple home made ingredients that are so good for you and taste ten times better than ready meals or quick junk.
One of the other huge reasons for becoming so curious with food was the realization with the older we get, how our food digestion starts to falter. This has made me utterly adapt and switch so many foods that at first were purely experimental tests to see if it could really be ture, but sure enough, a week or 2 with no gluten or wheat (though this is a hard to stick to rule) and my body felt like I had given it such a huge break. My nutritional research touches on a lot of areas to do with allergies and intolerances plus the actual benefits in vitamins and minerals of the foods studied for all to be made aware of in a medical, holistic and personal sense. I hope you find this helpful and any new or exciting research or breakthroughs will be immediately listed and posted on twitter!
Come christmas and our house has always looked like a food factory as its my yearly tradition to make everyone home made chutneys, pickles, spice mixes and salsas to go with their candle tins and soaps. Well, why just get busy at christmas when I have the whole year to get creative in the kitchen? So, at whatever opportunity I get, theres a cup cake party or a girly lunch where I can get out all these beautiful treats for all to enjoy…and as they do seem to ejoy them, I try to get myself signed up to every summers food festivals and mini markets to get them out there for all to try!
As I research on a daily basis, new and exciting recipes based on the current seasons produce, please keep checking in to see the top recipes, tried and tested by yours truly and feel free to leave your comments!
- ALTERNATIVE THERAPY AND FITNESS
My studies have allowed me to futher my knowledge and interest in all fields of alternative therapies, majoring mostly in herbal therapy, nutrition, neurolinguistic programing, homeopathy and reflexology. As the main line of my work involves hands on practise, I will post research and news articles relevant to this area of my work that I hope you may find useful.
As for fitness, I in no means pretent to be a fitness guru at all..haha BUT, we all need inspiring and motivating and once we get started with the feel good process, we really do feel good. I like to check up on all the latest ways to keep trim and fun, non-mundane methods that not only physically get you toned but mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I have been practising yoga and pilates for a few years , on and off but more often that not and then breaks in betweek etc, but over the last few months, I have been totally inspired by so many people that have completely turned themselves around by using the simple techniques of yoga, pilates and light resistance training and cardio and you know that since I’ve stuck to the progam I was set, it has really made a huge difference and I’m not going back!
Not just for fitness in vanity form, but as someone thats always suffered with back problems, stress and anxiety, there are methods you can really put to practice and see the results quickly and intensely. After 2 months of on-going repeat Yoga, pilates and body balance routines, I have realigned my spine, I can breathe freely of any problems and my goodness it helps you sleep at night, so great for those insomniacs out there! As part of my therapy studies, there was a lot to do with specific illness’s and how they can be treated and while so much restoration and maintanence is down to diet, pretty much all the illnesses listed could be prevented AND cured by simple excercise tecniques. It’s become very obvious through my studies that while I’m no angel when it comes to the level and quantity of excercise I persue, it is essential to include it in your overall health and wellbeing package. Get active people!
- INTERIOR DESIGN:
Everybody knows that when one area of your live feels great, everything else tries to also follow that path. It tends to always stem from the home. If you have a harmonious home life and can find peace with your surroundings and those in it, thats the one place that sets pace for the rest of your life’s activities and achievements. So, moral of the story: look after your home and keep it fresh and sanctuous so that the rest of your life can be also. As a lover of interior design, I am always looking for new ways to create special and exclusive things for the home, ways to update collectables and things that are simple yet hard to find on the high street. As much as I love to splash out on designer items or every day things, I do love making my own little pieces as the making of is one of the most relaxing things you can do in the home and is such a gratifying thing once you have the finished product looking divine somewhere in your home. My own selection of candles and homewear items are an ecclectic mix of vintage tea cup collections (fragranced and not) that are only made with 100% natural soy wax blends, travel tin candles, unique glass votives and fragranced aromatherapy wax melts. I also love making my old fave handmade botanical eye pillows with 100% organic silk, organic lavender, rosemary and violet and handmade hanging hearts, pictures for adults and children and much much more. I will be constantly adding and updating all my projects on this site so please keep checking in and feel free to leave your comments on any of the posts that will appear on each of the sections.
Anything I come accross thats of interest to me, and there will be lots, keep checking in and I hope it can be inspirational to you all too!
Nice to meet you all and hope you enjoy my site!Kat x
